Equine Therapy Fund for Child Abuse Victims
In collaboration with Peace Ranch, we’re offering survivors of child abuse a powerful path to recovery through equine therapy.
When Words Aren’t Enough
Every year, children across Northern Michigan endure the trauma of abuse. And while the forensic interview is a crucial first step toward justice, it doesn’t address the emotional wounds left behind. Many young survivors struggle with fear, anxiety, isolation, and emotional dysregulation that traditional therapy alone can’t always reach.
For children whose trauma runs too deep for words, healing requires more than conversation. It requires a connection that’s gentle, nonverbal, and safe.
Healing Through Equine Assisted Therapy
In partnership with Peace Ranch, Traverse Bay Children’s Advocacy Center offers a unique, trauma-informed approach to healing: equine-assisted therapy.
At Peace Ranch, children are paired with calm, responsive horses in a natural, peaceful setting. Guided by licensed therapists, they engage in activities like grooming, leading, and simply being present with the animals, building trust, self-regulation, and emotional awareness in the process.
Research shows that equine therapy helps reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, and PTSD. For many of our clients, it’s where the healing truly begins.
Real Outcomes, Real Healing
